Saskatchewan Search and Rescue has been presenting a basic introduction to Search and Rescue Awareness to the Weyburn Comprehensive Emergency Services Class every semester for the past several years now. The one day course consisted of an in class presentation of the history and making of SARSAV, and Search and Rescue in Canada and basic training and communication techniques. In field training for compass operations, Types 1 - 4 search with radios, team search with radios and question & answer to conclude. This was originally presented by Saskatoon Search and Rescue by Kent Orzo with the help of multiple assistants over the years. Last spring Kent had Derek Layden assist with the class. Derek is a member of the newest chapter to SARSAV which is Southeast Saskatchewan Search and Rescue. Derek and Krista Larsen are both trained volunteer members of SESKSAR and will be taking the lead on the class this semester. A special Thank You to Kent Orzo and Saskatoon Search and Rescue for all the help we have received making this possible!
